Last fall, my husband and I decided it was time to seriously introduce our toddler to water and swimming. Sure, he has always loved water, but there is a big difference between splashing in a Tummy Tub or bath tub and experiencing the vastness of a pool. After doing a little research, we decided what we wanted was a course like Water Babies, but since we don’t live in the UK, we had to find something local and luckily we did!
We already knew our son was part monkey but we had no idea he was also part fish. He discovered water in a way I had never imagined was possible. After the first two classes, he was already going underwater. First it was half a second and it gradually increased to about 3-3.5 seconds. Looking around at the more experienced “water babies” in the class made us regret that we didn’t start sooner. One little girl, a little over a year, floats on her back all on her own. Noah is no where near floating on his own, but his progress is something to be proud of.
Swimming this summer will be a much better experience thanks to this course. Now if the winter could only end. I don’t think I can handle another flake!
